Want more details?
We know this kind of topic can become confusing quickly, but we’re here to help you understand exactly how this works. Let’s break it down:
The Abortion Pill: 2 Pills
The abortion pill is actually 2 different pills – Mifepristone and Misoprostol [3].
- Usually, Mifepristone is taken at the doctor’s office, and then Misoprostol is taken at home 24-48 hours later.
- Mifepristone works by blocking the hormone progesterone. Without progesterone, the pregnancy cannot continue to grow in the uterus.
- Misoprostol causes cramping and bleeding in order to empty the uterus.
Abortion Pill Reversal
Abortion Pill Reversal has been estimated to work in up to 68% of observed cases[4]. Abortion Pill Reversal involves giving the body more of the natural hormone progesterone in an attempt to counteract the effects of Mifepristone (the first pill). Progesterone is a hormone that “helps maintain the early stages of a pregnancy.” [5]
Is it safe?
Prescription Progesterone received FDA approval in 1998 [6]. Studies have shown that the use of progesterone during pregnancy is safe for both the pregnant woman and the baby [7]. Our medical staff is happy to discuss this in detail with you and make sure all of your questions are answered.
You have options.
When faced with these big decisions, it’s important to remember that you have choices, and that includes being able to change your mind. These choices often come with a lot of confusion, fear, and stress. You may even be feeling pressure from those close to you. Remember that you don’t have to go through this alone.
