Unexpected Pregnancy Can Be Overwhelming

- Lab Quality Pregnancy Test: Home pregnancy tests are great, and they’ve come a long way, but they’re not 100% accurate, and various factors can sometimes lead to inaccurate results[1]. A lab-quality pregnancy test with a nurse or doctor can ensure you have accurate results you can trust.
- Ultrasound: Once you’ve confirmed your pregnancy, it’s important to have an ultrasound to confirm the viability of the pregnancy. According to the Mayo Clinic, it’s likely that more than 20% of early pregnancies end in miscarriage[2], and nobody wants to go through the pain, cost, and risk of an abortion if it’s unnecessary. Furthermore, an ultrasound will determine how far along you are (which determines what your safe options are) as well as ensure you do not have an ectopic or tubal pregnancy (which can be dangerous and even life-threatening)
- STI Testing: You may have heard that STI testing is important for sexually active people (and it is!), but did you know it’s an important step before having a surgical abortion? An undiagnosed STI increases your risk[3] of pelvic inflammatory disease after an abortion. Having a procedure when you’ve got an infection could allow that infection to spread and cause lifelong complications.
